Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is a combined hormonal oral contraceptive, which is an older version of the popular Yaz birth control. It was originally introduced by Berlex, which has been acquired by Bayer Healthcare, in April 2001. It was the first birth control pill to contain the progestin drospirenone, which is unlike other progestins available in the United States.
